August Birthstones: Peridot, Sardonyx & Spinel

Peridot is one of the oldest known gemstones. Some call it evening Emerald because of its light green colour. Ancient Egyptians knew it as ‘the gem of the sun’. Peridot symbolizes strength.

Spinel is an incredibly beautiful gemstone which has spent most of its history being confused for Ruby or Sapphire.

Sardonyx combines alternating layers of Sard and Onyx (two types of the layered mineral Chalcedony) to create a reddish zebra-stripped stone with white bands. It is associated with courage, happiness and clear communication.
